This diary for the period 1817 to 1829 (except for 1822 and 1825) was kept in interleaved almanacs by an anonymous man whose last name was apparently Clark. He was a farmer who made his home in Wakefield, N.H. Besides giving a weather report for each day, this diary provides a daily work record. This record shows that the farmer not only worked his own land, but that he labored for several individuals who lived in or around Wakefield. The diary also records travelling done by the diarist in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. A number of miscellaneous events concerning the arrival and departure of friends and neighbors, and other local events of interest are noted.
